The REAL Revolutionary War

NOTICE
Before watching/reading this photostory take note this is based on a real event. There is some mild violence such as gun shots and one person dies (nothing brutal) it just shows the doll on the floor laying down as if she was dead.

(Sorry it is sideways) *children throw rocks at sentry*

Here are the rocks

Townsperson #1: Looks like the children have found themselves a new game.
Townsperson #2: I'd like to burn down that customs house, but not before taking the money they've robbed me of.

(Sorry it is sideways) Townsperson: Yes, burning the customs house would take the chill out of the cold March wind.

Cloaked Man: Redcoats are going to attack us! That's right! Attack us. Remember the dockman who hit the soldier? Well, the soldier told his redcoat friends. Look, look! Notices signed by the redcoats. They promise to attack us.

(Sorry it is sideways) Narrator: This is Boston in 1770. Not a calm place. Colonists and British soldiers are constantly mistreating each other. Colonists complain about unfair laws passed by the king. The soldiers walk around frightening the colonists in hope of cooling their protests. See for yourself.

Samuel Grey (right): Lobsterback, come here.
Soldier (left): I do not answer to such names.
Samuel: I beg your pardon. I did not know you would let a name  get between you and a chance to earn some money.
I want to know if you are looking for work.
Soldier: Yes I am

Samuel: Well, good you can clean up my outhouse!
*soldier tries to hit Samuel*

(sorry it is sideways) *Samuel's friends come and push the soldier away from Samuel*
*The soldier leaves*

(sorry it is sideways) Samuel: And that tis' how you handle those devils!

*soldier comes back with MORE soldiers*

*people are pushed and shoved*

(sorry it is sideways) John Grey(right): All right, Samuel, that is enough. Your hands should be for ropemaking, not fighting.

Townspeople: YOU LOBSTERBACKS! DEVILS! VILLAINS!!
*soldiers and some townspeople move the fight outside*

Townsperson #1: Redcoats whacking colonists.  Colonists whacking redcoats. Bad times.
Townsperson #2: It's that wicked Townshend act. That is the cause of people's anger. Putting a tax on English paper,  lead, glass, paint and tea. What's left?

(sorry it is sideways) Towsperson #3: We can do without their goods.

(sorry it is sideways) Towsperson #1: I suppose, but I don't like the coffee my husband has been buying.  I'm a tea drinker.

(sorry it is sideways) Townsperson #4: It's not the tax that bothers me. It's what the Parliament does with the money they collect. They pay our officials, they pay our elected officials. That's what bothers me. We are supposed to pay them. If the Parliament pays them, why should these officials listen to us?

*boy throws rock at sentry* Sentry(left): Ouch! Why you...

*Sentry hits boy with the end of his rifle*

(Sorry it is sideways) *Boy leaving in tears*

(sorry it is sideways) Narrator: The boy leaves to tell his father that the Sentry hit him. The father tells his friends. Soon most of Boston knows what happened. Everyone agrees that the sentry must be taught a lesson.

*People wave sticks at the sentry*
Townsperson #3: That's the beast who hit the boy with his gun!

(sorry it is sideways) *Peoples start throwing snowballs and rocks at the sentry*

(sorry it is sideways) Soldier: Men, return to your barracks!

Crowd: Knock them down! Kill them! Kill them!

Soldiers(left): Make Way! Make Way!
Crowd: Don't push! Get that sword away from us!!!

(sorry it is sideways) Captain Preston: I ask you all to leave this place. If someone has been wronged, I will speak to that person.

Crowd: We have all been wronged!!

(sorry it is sideways) Crispus Attucks: Kill the dogs! Knock them down!

*Crispus argues with soldier trying to grab the soldier's gun from his hands*

Narrator: Who is this man who acts so boldly? He is Crispus Attucks, a runaway slave. Some colonists call him a trouble maker. Others call him a daring rebel. Either way, he would be the first African American to die for the colonies' independence. He would not be the last.

Townsperson: Sir, I hope yo don't intend the soldiers shall fire on the colonists?

(sorry it is sideways) Captain Preston: By no means. Soldiers stop-

The soldier had gotten his gun back and shot at Crispus Attucks.  People start throwing snowballs and soldiers fire.  Many people are dead or wounded.

Benjamin Leigh(left): Captain? Captain Preston?

(sorry it is sideways) Captain Preston: What? Oh- yes sir.

(sorry it is sideways) I will try to calm these people. I advise you detach your men.

(sorry it is sideways) Benjamin: Please calm yourselves. Let the dead and wounded be taken care of.

Crowd: MURDERERS! MURDERERS!

(sorry it is sideways) Governor Hutchinson: Ladies and gentleman.

Crowd: BOO! BOO! VILLAINS!!! WE WANT JUSTICE!

(sorry it is sideways) Ladies and gentleman. Your cries for justice have not fallen upon deaf ears. Justice will be done. Let British law take its course. I ask you to retire. *Crowd does not leave*

(sorry it is sideways) Benjamin: Please leave and let the dead and wounded be attended to.  *Crowd slowly leaves*

(sorry it is sideways) The Boston Massacre could have been avoided. Five people's lives could have been spared.  Today, March 5, 1770, on the very day of this bloody massacre, the Parliament repealed the evil Townshend Act, which surely caused this violence. But the news had to come by ship. The colonists would not know the Townshend act had been repealedd till many days later.

Sorry it is side ways. Try to see if you can read it sideways :D
